Cleaning

All contents within this guidance are to be treated as OFFICIAL and the link to the platform is not to be shared externally.

Deep cleaning can only be carried out by staff or prisoners who are qualified to do so. Deep cleaning of known infected areas must be carried out by qualified people. More thorough cleaning schedules should be established for communal areas.

Hi, can you confirm if none symptomatic rooms (which are used for reverse co-horting) must be left for 72 hours before cleaning? That is what is indicated in may 2020 ‘handling of prisoners property’:
Cleaning and Re-occupancy of Vacated Cells
In line with current guidance, vacated cells should be left empty for 72 hours prior to cleaning and re-occupation to ensure that any traces of the virus have decreased significantly. Following this time period, an uninfected cell can be cleaned as normal. Population Management must be informed that the cell is offline for 72 hours.
For cells which are suspected to be infected, the latest SOP on Cleaning during COVID-19 should be referred to.

Hi Marie,

Thank you for getting in touch. At this stage, yes, that is the current guidance. I will check in with H&S colleagues to check that this remains the case.

Cheers

Mike

Hi can you tell me the length of time needed from when a reverse cohort prisoner has used them to when they then can be cleaned and used again.
thanks

Hi Stuart,

There has not been a time period included with general use, however cleaning must be undertaken after each individual use of the shower in line with the cleaning SOP which has just been updated with specific lines on shower use.
